Donald C. Kamsler, VMD (Retired)

Dr. Kamsler founded the Sunbury Animal Hospital in 1952. He received his VMD degree from The University of Pennsylvania in 1950. Dr. Kamsler developed a reputation for service to both veterinary medicine and to his community. In 1998 he and his wife jointly received the Sunbury “Citizen of the Year” award from the American Legion. Dr. Kamsler is now retired and spends time with community service, the Salvation Army and dedication to Rotary International.

James W. Temple, DVM (Partner)

Dr. Temple joined Sunbury Animal Hospital in 1972.  He became a partner in 1973.  He received his DVM from Michigan State University in 1971. Dr. Temple is the senior veterinarian and CEO of Sunbury Animal Hospital.  He enjoys traveling with his wife Kathy and listening to jazz music.

Beverly L. Shaw, DVM (Partner)

Dr. Shaw joined Sunbury Animal Hospital in 1996. She received her undergraduate degree from Bucknell University in Lewisburg , PA and her DVM from Purdue University in 1996.  She joined Dr. Temple in partnership of Sunbury Animal Hospital in 2007.  Dr. Shaw enjoys restoring her Victorian house, riding her horse and living with her cat and 3 dogs.

Joy L. Lenker, DVM

Dr. Lenker joined Sunbury Animal Hospital in Aug 2008. A native of the area, she returned home after working for a food animal practice in Lancaster county for 3 years.  Dr. Lenker received her BS from Delaware Valley College in dairy science and her DVM from The Ohio State University in 2005.  Dr. Lenker and her husband, a beef and grain farmer, and her two children, reside on a farm.  Her areas of interest include, dairy and production medicine and milk quality.

Dean M. Cauffman, VMD

Dr. Cauffman began working with the Sunbury Animal Hospital part time in August 2006.  With 31 years of experience in all types of large animals but focusing on equine medicine.  Dr. Cauffman graduated from Penn State University with a BS in Animal Science and the University of Pennsylvania with a VMD, specializing in large animal medicine. He has cared for 200 pleasure horses per year and focuses on reproduction management for horses. Using his knowledge of large animal health management, Dr. Cauffman has developed health programs for various species, including white tail deer.

Anna L. Peterson, DVM

Dr. Peterson joined the team of veterinarians, July 13, 2009.  She graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison, School of Veterinary Medicine May 2009.  Dr. Peterson is practicing small animal medicine only.  Her interests include, Brazilian Jiu-jitsu (member of the Luiz Claudio Combat Team), reading classic and sci-fi/fantasy books, watching movies (anything but scary ones), horseback riding and canine rehabilitation. 

Amy D. Nagy, VMD

Dr. Nagy joined Sunbury Animal Hospital in July 2011.  She received her BA from Sarah Lawrence College in 1996, her VMD from the University of Pennsylvania in 2002 and her MS from the Virginia-Maryland Regional College of Veterinary Medicine in 2006.  She has advanced training in both Equine Internal Medicine and Equine Surgery, and completed her Master's research in equine surgical colic.  Her areas of interest include equine sports medicine, podiatry and soft tissue surgery.  A music major in undergraduate school and a former professional competitor in 3-day eventing, she still enjoys playing the guitar, audio restoration and riding.
