Donald C. Kamsler, VMD (Retired)
Dr. Kamsler founded the Sunbury Animal Hospital in 1952. He received his VMD degree from The University of Pennsylvania in 1950. Dr. Kamsler developed a reputation for service to both veterinary medicine and to his community. In 1998 he and his wife jointly received the Sunbury “Citizen of the Year” award from the American Legion. Dr. Kamsler is now partially retired and spends time with community service, the Salvation Army and dedication to Rotary International.
James W. Temple, DVM (Partner)
Dr. Temple joined Sunbury Animal Hospital in 1972. He received his DVM from Michigan State University in 1971. Dr. Temple is the senior veterinarian and CEO of Sunbury Animal Hospital. His favorite recent project has been the development of the Large Animal Hospital .
Beverly L. Shaw, DVM (Partner)
Dr. Shaw joined Sunbury Animal Hospital in 1996. She received her undergraduate degree from Bucknell University in Lewisburg , PA and her DVM from Purdue University in 1996. Dr. Shaw enjoys restoring her Victorian house, riding her horse and living with her cat and 3 dogs.
Jacqueline A. Rapp, VMD
Dr. Rapp joined Sunbury Animal Hospital in 1999. She received her BS from Pennsylvania State University in Dairy and Animal Science and received her VMD from University of Pennsylvania in 1999. Dr. Rapp is locally raised and is active in the North-Mont 4-H livestock club, the Elysburg Presbyterian Church and also raises sheep, beef cows, and horses on her farm. Her husband, Paul, is a nutritionist with Ritter Feeds, together they have 2 children. Her interests are dairy and small ruminant production medicine and reptile, deer and horse medicine.
Sarah J. Bailey, DVM
Dr. Bailey is a native of Minnesota who joined the Sunbury Animal Hospital in 2004 after receiving a BS in Animal Science and DVM from the University of Minnesota . She has an interest in small animal internal medicine and diagnostic imaging and is in constant pursuit of the perfect cup of coffee.
Dean M. Cauffman, VMD
Dr. Cauffman began working with the Sunbury Animal Hospital in August 2006, with 31 years of experience in all fields of large animal practice and farm consultation. Dr. Cauffman graduated from Penn State University with a BS in Animal Science and the University of Pennsylvania with a VMD, specializing in large animal medicine. He has cared for 200 pleasure horses per year and focuses on reproduction management for both horses and cattle. Using his knowledge of large animal health management, Dr. Cauffman has developed health programs for all species, including white tail deer.
Joy L. Lenker, DVM
Dr. Lenker joined Sunbury Animal Hospital in Aug 2008. A native of the area, she returned home after working for a
Food Animal Practice in Lancaster county for 3 years. Dr. Lenker received her BS from Delaware Valley College in dairy science and her DVM from The Ohio State University in 2005. Dr. Lenker and her husband, a beef and grain farmer, and her son, reside on a farm. Her areas of interest include, dairy and production medicine and milk quality.
